Alternatively, your data export contains it in a cleaner form. Request it at Settings → Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information — the archive includes files listing accounts you unfollowed, with timestamps.

1. Open your activity: Profile → the menu → Your activity.
2. Find interactions: Look for Interactions, then Follow requests or the follow-related section. Instagram moves this between versions, so the exact label varies.
3. Check recent follow activity: You will find a record of accounts you followed and unfollowed, most recent first.

Why this record exists when the other does not

Because it is your own activity. Instagram logs the actions you take, and shows them back to you.

Who unfollowed you is someone else’s action, and surfacing it would make unfollowing a social event. That asymmetry is deliberate, and it is why every "who unfollowed me" tool has to reconstruct the answer by comparison — as covered in does Instagram notify unfollows.

Undoing a cleanup you regret

If you cleared too aggressively, this record is how you get people back. Work through it and re-follow selectively.

Two cautions. Re-following counts against the same rate limits that unfollowing does, so do it in small batches over days rather than all at once. And they will get a follow notification, so an unfollow-then-refollow cycle is visible to anyone paying attention.

A better habit than relying on it
